Terms of use

These terms apply to Prelaunch Lab, run by Michael Bockel ("we"). By creating an account or voting you agree to them. If you're a consumer, the mandatory rights you have under consumer protection law always apply in addition.

The service

Prelaunch Lab previews Steam store graphics and micro-trailers, helps you build clips, and lets you test variants with other developers and players. Previews are mock-ups: Steam may show your game differently, and test results are statistical estimates, not promises of wishlists or sales.

Your account

You need a working email address. Keep access to it safe: login links are sent there.
One person per account. You must be at least 16 years old.
You can delete your account at any time on the Account page.

What you upload

You may only upload capsules, clips and screenshots that you have the rights to use (for example, your own game's art, or art you're licensed to use). You confirm this before your first upload.
You keep all rights to your content. You allow us to store it and to show it to voters of your tests, for as long as it's needed for the service.
No unlawful, hateful or sexually explicit content, and nothing that infringes others' rights. We remove content that breaks these rules and may close the test or the account. Report problems via "Report" on a voting page or to hello@prelaunchlab.dev.

Voting fair

Vote honestly, as if you were browsing Steam. Don't vote on your own tests through other accounts, don't automate votes and don't try to manipulate results. We check votes (timing, attention checks, rate limits) and may void suspicious votes, withhold credits or close accounts.

Credits

Credits are earned by voting (10 confirmed votes = 1 credit) and pay for tests. They have no cash value, can't be bought, sold or transferred, and are lost when the account is deleted.

Pro and Fest Pass

Pro ($12 a month) and the Fest Pass ($39, 90 days of Pro, no renewal) are sold by Paddle as our reseller; Paddle's buyer terms apply to the purchase.
Pro renews monthly until you cancel; you can cancel any time and keep Pro until the end of the paid month.

When Pro ends, nothing is deleted at once: Free limits apply to new projects and tests, and the Free media timers start from that day.

Availability and changes

We work to keep Prelaunch Lab running but can't guarantee it's always available or error-free. Features may change. If we change these terms in a way that matters to you, we'll tell you by email before the change applies.

Liability

We're liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence and for injury to life, body or health. For slight negligence we're liable only for breaches of essential obligations, limited to the damage typical and foreseeable for this kind of service. Mandatory consumer protection law remains unaffected.

Law

Austrian law applies, excluding its conflict-of-law rules and the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. If you're a consumer, the protections of the law of the country you live in still apply.
